Continued Discussions with the Ulster Orchestra

On Friday 23rd June 2017, the Londonderry Bands Forum continued discussions with the Ulster Orchestra aimed at a European music project collaboration between the groups during the coming months.

This is not the first time that some of the LBF musicians have worked with the orchestra but it is the first time that they are looking at an integrated approach not only to music but also to a range of other issues associated with health, wellbeing and mental health.

Richard Wigley the managing director of the UO brought leaders of the various music sections of the orchestra to the LBF offices in the New Gate Arts and Culture Centre in Hawkin Street, Londonderry for the wide-ranging discussions.

Senior members of the LBF were in attendance and also representatives from brass bands in Strabane who are associated with the forum through the Walled City Tattoo in 2013.

The orchestra will now work with the forum to decide on direction and content for the programme with small ensemble projects leading to a major city performance a possible scenario.
