Royal Marines Workshop

Royal Marines Workshop

Last Sunday (14th May) over 60 members of local bands connected with the Londonderry Bands Forum had the opportunity to take part in a workshop with the band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Scotland.

During the worshop the local musicians got the chance to have a chat and play with the band. At the start of the Morning, players were split into sections flutes, brass and drums with each section going to a different room and working on three pieces of music. The drummers got the chance to take part in drill with the marines drummers on the drill square.

The Flute and Brass section then came together under the direction of the marines musical director who worked with them through the music giving guidance were necessary. At the end of the workshop the now massed band made up of the Royal Marines and local musicians were joined by the Marine drummers  to play through the pieces of music.

This was a great oppuntunity and experince for local amateur musicians to play and learn with top class musicians. Everyone who attended had a really enjoyable morning. Thanks goes to the band of Her Majesty’s Royla Marines Scotland for the workshop.

Below is some pictures and videos clips of the workshop.
